BLACK LABEL_STARK (HORSEHIDE)
STARK is a reinterpretation of the D-pocket rider jacket, which became widely established from the 1940s onward, conceived through the image of the rebellious youth of the 1950s.
While retaining the traditional construction of a D-pocket rider jacket, a side pocket is integrated within the D-shaped panel to improve the practicality of the original pocket configuration. Die Cutting is applied to achieve greater precision in the complex D-shaped pattern, while exposed cut edges are finished with Edge Painting for a clean and refined result.
STARK is crafted from Shinki Hikaku tea-core horsehide. As the jacket is worn, the black surface gradually wears away to reveal the underlying brown core. With this aging process in mind, all hardware is unified in an antique gold finish. From the SUPER LAMPO zipper to the signature metal tabs, embossed snaps, and side-adjuster buckles, each component shares the same tone, allowing the evolving leather and metal to develop a natural harmony over time.
PONY ANTIK is a premium Horsehide article from the renowned Japanese tannery Shinki Hikaku.
PONY ANTIK is produced from hides sourced from the horse’s lower back to hindquarter area, offering a balance of lightness and flexibility. Through vegetable tanning and aniline finishing, it develops rich color depth, while the milling process further enhances the distinctive texture unique to horsehide.
After being carefully tanned over a set period using the pit tanning method, the leather is finished with carefully selected materials to achieve a precisely controlled tone. As time passes, the surface gradually develops a deeper luster and a refined vintage character, creating a distinctly expressive presence.
Throughout this process, the leather thickness, as well as the application levels of oils, chemicals, and finishing pigments, are meticulously adjusted according to the intended product style and performance requirements. Because the density and characteristics vary across different sections of a single hide, this process relies heavily on the long-standing expertise and technical judgment of skilled artisans.
With continued wear, PONY ANTIK develops a characteristic tea-core aging effect, as the surface finish gradually wears away to reveal the underlying ground color. Over time, subtle brown undertones emerge, creating a richer and more dimensional patina.
