FARRIER began with military leatherwear as its foundation, while deliberately distancing itself from the idea of reproducing any specific historical archetype.
Elements found across various military leather jackets are combined and reinterpreted within a single form. Rather than transferring each detail directly from its original source, the design focuses on reconstructing them through new proportions and structural relationships.
The collar features detachable fur, designed to connect through a SUPER LAMPO zipper. At the hem, the rib-knit waistband commonly found on flight jackets has been removed and replaced with a hem band in the same material as the body, along with side adjusters, incorporating functional elements associated with biker jackets.
Action Pleats are applied at the back to provide greater freedom of movement, while Cuff Zippers at the sleeve ends allow the fit around the wrists to be adjusted.
While the exterior is primarily constructed around the design language of military and biker leatherwear, the interior features curved panels inspired by the facing construction of tailored jackets, along with Underarm Sweat Shields. By contrasting elements of different origins between the exterior and interior, the distinctive structural details of BLACK LABEL are carried through even into areas that remain unseen from the outside.
FARRIER takes the distinct languages of military wear, biker leatherwear, and tailoring as a collective source of inspiration, reconstructing them in the manner of NOIR LARMES rather than remaining bound to any single historical archetype.
Through 17 years of collaboration with the Italian tannery Only Frank, Noir Larmes has independently developed the premium ARTHUR article, built on a tannin-tanned foundation.
ARTHUR leather is a vegetable-tanned article produced using only carefully selected full-grain hides, with tannin, mimosa, and quebracho as its primary tanning materials. Compared to conventional vegetable-tanned leathers that emphasize the natural characteristics of the material, ARTHUR is a premium lambskin developed with enhanced softness to the touch and a richer surface luster. Wax and oils are added to the crust leather, followed by an additional two-day drum process in natural oak barrels.
During this process, oils and waxes naturally permeate the leather, after which the material undergoes two to three passes through a high-temperature roller ironing machine, creating a firm and structurally solid finish.
Because every stage of production requires exceptional care to preserve both the leather’s unique character and its natural qualities, ARTHUR undergoes prolonged inspection throughout each process, unlike conventional leather production. Rather than relying on the rapid drying methods of dry machines commonly used in standard vegetable leather manufacturing, it is completed with an air-dry finishing process that prioritizes a more natural result.
